Things Just Look Better in December

Ever notice how things just look better in December?

Take a look around you and you will see how things have changed, literally and figuratively around you.

In my case, my dog looks a lot fatter.

He isn’t fatter because he eats a lot, which he does by the way. He looks fatter because his coat of fur is much, much thicker now.

He also smells a lot better as his fur isn’t as oily with the scent of his musky odor. Perhaps it’s because the cool climate makes him want to stay indoors more often.

He also is a bit more malambing, preferring to stick around people by either lying beside them or putting his head on laps to take extended naps.

Even people look much better now, as they dress up in new clothes designed to keep warm.

Gone are the extremely tight and ill-fitting clothes, replaced by full clothing that actually puts some shape in the right places.

The trees also look so much better now as most of their leaves are retained. This is no doubt due to the absence of any droughts so prevalent during the summer months.

And hanging on these branches thick with foliage are Christmas lights, dancing in the evenings to tunes that perhaps only the trees know of.

Adult faces also show a lot of relief during December. And while this month may be hectic, many are relieved to still have jobs at the end of the year.

And while most are content with this, quite a few have crossed the line by showing signs of happiness after receiving their thirteenth month bonuses.

Children also show some signs of change. But this change is more reflective of their anticipation that the Christmas vacation will be coming soon.

And below this level of anticipation swims a level of excitement. This has the effect of adding an extra skip in their stride as they think of what Santa Claus will be bringing them this Christmas.

Ah yes, everything certainly looks much better in December. How I wish it could look like this all year round.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to one and all!
